Krunal Pandya's India face Bangladesh for 11th place after a winless Hong Kong Sixes

India will finish a winless Hong Kong Sixes against Bangladesh on Sunday morning, in the play-off that decides 11th place out of 12

Krunal Pandya's side were beaten by England by three runs in the second semi-final of the Bowl at the Mission Road Ground on Saturday, a third defeat in three matches that left them in the lowest of the tournament's finishing brackets.

England made 124 for 2 from their six overs after India had put them in, and India closed on 121 for 4 in reply, Rahul Tripathi making 56 from 14 balls.

The 11th place play-off opens the final day's programme in Mong Kok, at 9.40am local time and 7.10am in India. Bangladesh come to it from a last-ball defeat of their own, beaten by South Africa by one wicket in the first of the Bowl semi-finals.

Three runs short against England

Tripathi's 56 from 14 balls was the one substantial innings of India's chase, and the second morning in a row that he had provided their quickest scoring; he made 24 from seven balls against the United Arab Emirates on Saturday.

Shashank Singh added 29 from nine balls, but a target of 125 from 36 deliveries was never quite in India's reach.

Martin Andersson, who made 51 from 13 balls at the top of England's innings, was named player of the match, with Ed Barnard contributing 35.

England had come into the semi-final having finished bottom of Group A, where they lost to Hong Kong and to Australia.

A tournament without a win

India arrived in Hong Kong with a seven-man squad drawn almost entirely from the IPL, and lost all three of the matches they played.

Pakistan beat them on Friday in their Group C opener. The United Arab Emirates followed on Saturday, restricting India to 94 for 6 and reaching 97 for 0 with 10 balls remaining.

Third place in the group sent India into the Bowl, the bracket that decides places nine to twelve, and the defeat by England has left them in the play-off for 11th.

T Natarajan's 38 from 14 balls against the UAE and Tripathi's two innings have been the campaign's only sustained resistance.

Bangladesh beaten off the last ball

Bangladesh, captained by Abu Hider Rony, also finished bottom of their group and met South Africa in the first Bowl semi-final on Saturday.

They posted 129 for 4 from their six overs. South Africa replied with 132 for 5, winning by one wicket with no balls to spare.

Sabbir Rahman, Habibur Rahman Sohan and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury are among the Bangladesh squad in Hong Kong.

Six a side, six overs

The Hong Kong Sixes gives each team six players and six overs, and everyone in the side except the wicketkeeper has to bowl.

Twelve teams were divided into four groups of three, the group winners going through to the Cup semi-finals and the rest sorted into the Plate and Bowl brackets.

India's squad is Krunal Pandya, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana, Shashank Singh, Rahul Tewatia, T Natarajan and Kulwant Khejroliya. Khejroliya came in for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was called up by India for the tour of New Zealand.

The rest of the final day

The play-off for 11th is followed by Hong Kong against Sri Lanka for seventh place and Scotland against the United Arab Emirates for third.

England meet South Africa in the Bowl final, and Pakistan, the defending champions, play Oman in the Plate final.

Afghanistan and Australia contest the Cup final, the last match of the tournament.

India and Bangladesh open the closing day at the Mission Road Ground, the only fixture left in either team's tournament.
