Jaiswal storms to Orange Cap, Bishnoi tightens grip on Purple Cap

Rajasthan Royals continued their dominant start to IPL 2026, climbing to the top of the points table after a rain-shortened win over Mumbai Indians in Guwahati. The victory also reshaped the individual leaderboards, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravi Bishnoi emerging as standout performers.
Jaiswal surged to the top of the Orange Cap standings with a scintillating unbeaten 77 off just 32 balls in the 11-over contest. The knock took his tally to 170 runs in three innings, having been dismissed only once so far this season. His fearless strokeplay and consistency have made him the early benchmark among batters.
He moved ahead of Sameer Rizvi, who had set the pace earlier in the tournament with 160 runs, including a highest score of 90. The race remains tight, with several batters already crossing the 100-run mark, including Heinrich Klaasen, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Rohit Sharma.
While Jaiswal leads with the bat, Bishnoi has taken control of the bowling charts. His economical spell of 2 for 25 in the rain-hit match pushed his tally to seven wickets, making him the outright holder of the Purple Cap. This followed his match-winning 4 for 41 against Gujarat Titans, underlining his growing influence for Rajasthan.
A group of bowlers are chasing him closely with five wickets each, including Vijaykumar Vyshak, Anshul Kamboj, Nandre Burger and Jacob Duffy.
With Rajasthan Royals firing on all fronts and their key players leading both leaderboards, they have set the early pace in IPL 2026. As the tournament progresses, sustaining this momentum will be crucial—but for now, they are the team to beat.
