Harsh Dubey's 14 wickets carry Vidarbha to an innings win over Madhya Pradesh

Harsh Dubey followed his 9-53 with 5-37 to finish with 14 wickets in the match as Vidarbha beat Madhya Pradesh by an innings and 20 runs in Nagpur

Vidarbha completed a fourth win in four matches inside three days at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, dismissing Madhya Pradesh for 209 and 105 after the visitors had chosen to bat first.

The margin was an innings and 20 runs, built almost entirely on the left-arm spin of Harsh Dubey, who took nine wickets on the opening day and five more in the second innings for a match return of 14 for 90.

Between those two spells, captain Akshay Wadkar and Nachiket Bhute hauled Vidarbha out of trouble at 87 for 6 and on to a first-innings lead of 125.

Dubey rewrites the Vidarbha record book

Dubey's 9-53 from 23.1 overs on day one was the first nine-wicket innings haul by a Vidarbha bowler in the Ranji Trophy, bettering Arun Ogiral's 8-39 against the same opponents in 1967-68.

Wisden recorded him as the 30th bowler to take nine or more wickets in a Ranji Trophy innings. Nachiket Bhute's 1-46 was the only wicket in the innings that did not fall to him.

He was no less effective second time around, returning 5-37 from 11.3 overs as Madhya Pradesh folded on the third day.

Mahajan alone resists on the opening day

Madhya Pradesh, who had gone into the round unbeaten and fourth in Elite Group A, lasted 66.1 overs in their first innings.

Atharva Mahajan made 85 from 123 balls and put on 72 with Saransh Jain, who contributed 34 from 41, before Dubey broke the stand and worked through the rest.

Nobody else passed 25, and the innings closed on 209.

Wadkar and Bhute rescue the innings

Vidarbha's reply began badly. They closed the opening day on 56 for 4 and slipped to 87 for 6, with Kumar Kartikeya and Avesh Khan removing Aman Mokhade, Danish Malewar, Ravikumar Samarth and Dhruv Shorey between them. Dubey himself fell for 12.

Wadkar and Bhute then added 175 for the seventh wicket. The captain made 100 from 212 balls with nine fours before retiring hurt on exactly three figures, leaving the innings to close at 334 for 9.

Bhute was the more aggressive of the pair, falling three short of a hundred for 97 from 111 balls with six fours and five sixes. Kartikeya finished with 3-106 and Saransh Jain 3-77.

Rekhade and Dubey finish it inside three days

Needing 125 simply to make Vidarbha bat again, Madhya Pradesh lost Yash Dubey for 4 on the second evening and were bowled out for 105 in 33.3 overs on day three.

Seamer Parth Rekhade was the quickest through the order with 5-14 from seven overs, and Dubey took the other five.

Saksham Purohit top-scored with 34 from 53 balls and Shubham Sharma made 20, the only two batters to reach double figures.

Vidarbha stay clear at the top

Vidarbha had led Elite Group A on 19 points from three straight wins before this round, and a fourth outright result extends that advantage.

For Madhya Pradesh, who had drawn with Jammu and Kashmir and Puducherry before beating Bihar by an innings in Indore, it was a first defeat of the season.

Dubey, who made his India ODI debut earlier in 2026, has now taken the two best innings returns of his first-class career in the space of a year.

Scorecard: Madhya Pradesh 209 (66.1 ov; Atharva Mahajan 85, Harsh Dubey 9-53) and 105 (33.3 ov; Saksham Purohit 34, Parth Rekhade 5-14, Harsh Dubey 5-37) lost to Vidarbha 334 for 9 (103.3 ov; Akshay Wadkar 100 retired hurt, Nachiket Bhute 97, Kumar Kartikeya 3-106) by an innings and 20 runs.
