Surrey produced a dominant all-round performance to thrash the Kent Spitfires by 42 runs in a one-sided Vitality Blast clash at the Spitfire Ground in Canterbury.
Batting first, Surrey posted 193 for 7, built on a composed 53 from Ollie Pope and a brutal unbeaten 62 off just 26 balls from Laurie Evans, who tore into the death overs. Despite a mid-innings slowdown triggered by Grant Stewart (3 for 27), Surrey exploded late, with Evans smashing 29 runs in the 17th over alone.
In reply, Kent’s chase unraveled spectacularly. After a promising start with Zak Crawley (45) and Joe Denly (28) at the crease, Kent collapsed from 109 for 2 to 118 for 8 in a 17-ball meltdown. Mitchell Santner led the bowling attack with 3 for 28, while Sam Curran and Chris Jordan contributed with key wickets and run-outs. Kent eventually stumbled to 151 for 9, falling well short despite the presence of England stars.
With over 4,500 fans in attendance, the mood turned flat as Kent's middle and lower order crumbled. Surrey’s strong finish with the bat and clinical bowling effort keeps them firmly in the hunt for knockout-stage qualification.
