South Africa Women Set for Historic First Tour of Zimbabwe

South Africa women's national cricket team will tour Zimbabwe for the first time later this year for a five-match T20I series, marking the first-ever meeting between the two sides in the format.

All five matches will be played at Queens Sports Club on September 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19, with each game scheduled to begin at 1:30pm local time.

The two teams have only faced each other twice previously in international cricket, both during a women’s ODI quadrangular series hosted in South Africa in 2017. This upcoming contest therefore represents a significant milestone for women’s cricket in Zimbabwe.

Givemore Makoni described the series as a major opportunity for Zimbabwe’s players to test themselves against one of the strongest teams in the women’s game.

Zimbabwe last hosted an international women’s series in September-October 2025 against the UAE. Since then, they have competed in the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier and also toured New Zealand and Pakistan.

The busy calendar for Zimbabwe Women will continue after the South Africa series, with the team scheduled to travel to India for their first-ever white-ball tour there, featuring three ODIs and three T20Is.

The series also reflects growing investment by Zimbabwe Cricket in the women’s game, as they continue expanding opportunities for international exposure and development.
