Shreyas Iyer fined for slow over-rate during PBKS' victory over CSK

Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer has been fined ₹12 lakh after his team was found guilty of a slow over-rate during their dramatic four-wicket win against Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk on Wednesday. This marked PBKS’ first over-rate offence in IPL 2025.

As a result, PBKS had to bring an extra fielder inside the circle before the 19th over. Despite the penalty, the over turned out to be pivotal, with Yuzvendra Chahal claiming four wickets — including a hat-trick — to derail CSK’s innings and bowl them out for 190.

Chasing 191, Iyer led from the front with a blistering 72 off 41 balls, supported by a half-century from Prabhsimran Singh. The win lifted PBKS to second on the points table, while CSK’s loss confirmed their exit from the playoff race.

Iyer joins a growing list of captains fined for slow over-rates this season, including Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson, and Hardik Pandya.

PBKS are set to face LSG next in Dharamsala on May 4.
