Pooran’s six-hitting and Narine’s spin seal 35-run win for TKR

Trinbago Knight Riders produced a dominant all-round performance to beat Barbados Tridents by 35 runs in a low-scoring CPL 2026 encounter in Bridgetown.

After being asked to bat, TKR posted 147 for 6, with Nicholas Pooran playing the decisive innings. After taking 10 balls to get off the mark, Pooran exploded with seven sixes in a 37-ball 59, providing the bulk of TKR’s momentum. Colin Munro also made a valuable 38.

Barbados struggled to build partnerships in the chase as Sunil Narine ripped through their top order during the powerplay. He claimed three wickets early, while Akeal Hosein added another, leaving the Tridents at 35 for 4 after six overs.

The collapse continued as Jyd Goolie took 3 for 20, while Usman Tariq bowled an economical four-over spell conceding just 25 runs. Zachary Carter and Sherfane Rutherford were the joint top-scorers with only 21 each.

Narine returned to complete the innings, finishing with outstanding figures of 4 for 12, as Barbados were bowled out for 112 with nine balls remaining.

The Knight Riders' spinners dominated the contest, combining for 8 wickets, with Narine and Goolie accounting for seven of them.
