Khushdil Shah Fined for Collision with Foulkes in Christchurch

Pakistan allrounder Khushdil Shah has been fined 50% of his match fee and given three demerit points for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the first T20I against New Zealand in Christchurch.

The incident took place in the eighth over of Pakistan’s innings when Khushdil, after hitting a shot past mid-on, collided with bowler Charlie Foulkes, who had his back turned. The umpire intervened after the batters completed two runs.

Since Khushdil accepted the sanction imposed by match referee Jeff Crowe, no formal hearing was required. This marks his first offence in a 24-month period.

Despite top-scoring for Pakistan with 32 off 30 balls, Khushdil couldn’t prevent his side from collapsing to 91 all out. New Zealand comfortably chased the target in just 10.1 overs, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.

With Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan left out as Pakistan experiment with a more aggressive playing style, the team will be looking for a turnaround in the second T20I in Dunedin. The series will be followed by three ODIs between the two teams.
