Jofra Archer has been sidelined from England's upcoming Metro Bank ODI series against West Indies after sustaining a right-thumb ligament injury during the IPL with Rajasthan Royals. The injury occurred while fielding in a match against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 4 and, although initially deemed minor, has since been diagnosed as more serious. As a result, Archer will not take part in the ODI series starting May 29 at Edgbaston and will undergo further assessment by England's medical team over the next two weeks. His absence casts doubt on a potential return to red-ball cricket for the England Lions in early June, which could have marked his first first-class appearance in over four years. Left-arm seamer Luke Wood has been called up as Archer's replacement, while the Lions squad remains open for additions depending on player fitness, including Archer and Ben Stokes.
