India Hand Prince Yadav ODI Debut as Afghanistan Opt to Bowl in Lucknow

Prince Yadav received his maiden ODI cap as Afghanistan national cricket team won the toss and chose to bowl first against India national cricket team in the second ODI at BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium.

India made three changes to the playing XI, bringing in Prince Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Kuldeep Yadav. They replaced Harsh Dubey, Prasidh Krishna, and Nitish Kumar Reddy, with captain Shubman Gill confirming Reddy missed out due to a sore left thigh.

Prince comes into the match with valuable local experience, having represented Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL over the last two seasons.

Afghanistan also reshuffled their lineup, handing batter Darwish Rasooli his ODI debut, while Nangeyalia Kharote and Bilal Sami were also included. Missing out were Mohammad Nabi (illness), Azmatullah Omarzai (injury), and Ziaur Rahman.

Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi felt the fresh Lucknow surface would aid spin early on and hoped his side could improve after losing the opening ODI by seven wickets in Dharamsala.

The conditions in Lucknow are a stark contrast to Dharamsala, with temperatures expected to approach 40°C, prompting officials to schedule three drinks breaks during the first innings to help players cope with the heat.
