BCCI Announces Major Venue Changes for 2024–25 Home Cricket Season

In a significant reshuffle of its 2024–25 home cricket calendar, the BCCI has announced multiple venue changes across men's, women's, and India A matches due to logistical, preparatory, and scheduling challenges. The second Test of the India-West Indies series, originally slated for Eden Gardens in Kolkata this October, has been moved to Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. In turn, Kolkata will now host the first Test of the India-South Africa series from November 14–18, which was initially set for Delhi. Meanwhile, Chennai has pulled out of hosting the three-match women’s ODI series between India and Australia in September due to pitch and outfield relaying works in preparation for the 2026 men’s T20 World Cup. These ODIs will now be played in New Chandigarh (first two games) and Delhi (final match). The New Chandigarh venue has been granted matches partly as compensation for being dropped from the women's World Cup host list. Additionally, South Africa A's one-dayers against India A have been shifted from Bengaluru to Rajkot, while the BCCI’s new Centre of Excellence on the outskirts of Bengaluru will debut as a first-class venue by hosting the two four-day ‘A’ matches from October 30 to November 10.
