Auqib Nabi added to India’s squad for the first three ODIs as Prasidh Krishna misses out

India have added Jammu and Kashmir seamer Auqib Nabi to their squad for the first three one-day internationals in New Zealand after Prasidh Krishna was ruled out of the series
Nabi had originally been named only for the fourth and fifth matches of the five-game series. He now joins the group from the opener at Eden Park in Auckland on 4 November, a change the BCCI announced on Saturday with a short post on X: "Auqib Nabi added to #TeamIndia squad for first three ODIs vs New Zealand".
Prasidh misses all five matches after being unable to secure a fitness clearance for a hamstring problem, with India's medical staff wanting more time to build his bowling workload before he returns to competitive cricket.
The series opens a long New Zealand tour that also carries two World Test Championship matches, and India have split the one-day captaincy between Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer across it.
A replacement already on the tour
Nabi, 29, did not have to travel. He has been in New Zealand with the India A squad and took six wickets across the two innings of the four-day match against New Zealand A, adding a brisk 38 with the bat in the second.
He is a red-ball specialist who is yet to play a Test, and he has one one-day international behind him, a wicketless debut against the West Indies in Guwahati earlier this season.
His domestic season began with four wickets and an unbeaten 30 for Jammu and Kashmir against Madhya Pradesh in the opening round of the Ranji Trophy.
Prasidh waits on a return-to-play clearance
The BCCI confirmed the squad changes on 30 October, when Prasidh was ruled out of the one-day leg. He has been working back from a hamstring injury and needs more time to build up to the workload a five-match series would ask of him.
He still faces a return-to-play assessment at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. If he clears it, he is expected to join the third four-day fixture against New Zealand A, which would give him red-ball overs before the Test series.
A pace group stretched across two squads
Mohammed Siraj is with the India A side for the four-day match that began on 31 October, which leaves him unlikely to feature in the series opener three days later.
Nitish Kumar Reddy is available for the first one-day international only before returning to the India A programme, so the bowling group thins out as the series goes on.
That leaves Anshul Kamboj, Gurnoor Brar and Arshdeep Singh to share the seam duties alongside Nabi, with Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel the spin options.
Two captains across five matches
Gill leads the side for the first three one-day internationals with Iyer as his deputy. Iyer then takes over for the fourth and fifth, where Ishan Kishan is named vice-captain and wicketkeeper.
The schedule runs through Auckland on 4 November, Wellington on 7 November and Hamilton on 10 November, before the last two matches at Mount Maunganui on 13 and 15 November.
The two-match Test series follows on 19 November at the Basin Reserve in Wellington.
The Twenty20 leg comes first
India led the Twenty20 series 3-1 going into Sunday's fifth and final match at Seddon Park in Hamilton, the last business of the tour's white-ball opening.
New Zealand have named Mitchell Santner as their one-day captain, with Matt Henry working back to fitness after an injury in the second Twenty20 international.
India open the five-match series against New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland on 4 November.
