Akram, Farhan and Philippe power Sultans to dominant win

Multan Sultans delivered a statement performance in PSL 2026, cruising to a seven-wicket win over Rawalpindiz after a complete all-round display.
The foundation was laid by Faisal Akram, whose superb spell of 4 for 31 derailed Rawalpindiz’s innings. His clever variations and control through the middle overs ensured the opposition never built sustained momentum, restricting them to 182 for 8 despite a late flourish.
Rawalpindiz did have bright spots, notably Sam Billings, who finished unbeaten on 56, and Kamran Ghulam’s handy contribution. But regular wickets and a slowdown in the middle overs left them short of a truly imposing total.
In response, Multan’s chase was emphatic. Sahibzada Farhan continued his red-hot form, smashing 68 off 38 balls in a fearless display at the top. He found an ideal partner in Josh Philippe, who struck 56 as the pair added a match-defining 110 runs in just 58 balls.
Their aggressive intent was evident early, particularly when Farhan took on Mohammad Amir with consecutive sixes, shifting momentum decisively. Philippe then joined the assault, punishing anything loose as the required rate quickly dipped below a run a ball.
Though both set batters eventually fell, the damage had been done. Shan Masood and Ashton Turner calmly completed the chase with nearly four overs to spare.
With both bat and ball firing, Multan Sultans have emerged as early tournament favourites. Their balance, depth, and confidence were on full display, while Rawalpindiz were left searching for answers after a comprehensive defeat.
