For Oman, a narrow victory over Zimbabwe in a recent practice fixture has become a source of confidence. Captain Jatinder Singh sees clear psychological value in having already beaten a Full Member side, even if it came outside the main tournament. Despite being one of the busiest sides in recent years, Zimbabwe arrived in Sri Lanka short on match sharpness, and the warm-ups served that purpose.

For Raza, the priority was acclimatisation. With all their games scheduled in Sri Lanka, understanding local surfaces and shot options was crucial. Batters spending extended time in the middle mattered more than the scoreboard.

Oman plan to counter that experience with fearless intent and positivity. On Monday, confidence born from a warm-up win will collide with Zimbabwe’s longer-term focus—and only one approach will translate into early momentum at the World Cup.
