Leicestershire clinched a landmark red-ball victory at Lord’s for the first time in 45 years, defeating Middlesex by seven wickets to maintain their stronghold atop the Rothesay County Championship Division Two standings. The win was built on stellar performances from seamers Logan van Beek (3 for 28) and Ben Green (3 for 32), who spearheaded the dismantling of Middlesex for 143 in their second innings, setting up a modest target of 102.

Middlesex had started positively with an opening stand of 51 between Sam Robson and Max Holden, but a dramatic collapse followed, with the home side losing six wickets for just 34 runs. Only Luke Hollman showed resistance with a defiant 42, while the rest of the middle and lower order crumbled under relentless pressure from the Leicestershire attack.

Despite some early aggression from Sol Budinger (25) and minor setbacks including the wickets of Rishi Patel and Rehan Ahmed, the Foxes reached the target with ease. Captain Peter Handscomb fittingly struck the winning runs, finishing unbeaten alongside Lewis Hill, to secure Leicestershire’s fourth win in six matches this season.
