Vaibhav Suryavanshi, 14, becomes youngest player to score a century in men's T20 cricket

At just 14 years old, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has made history by becoming the youngest centurion in men’s T20 cricket. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) prodigy smashed a 35-ball century — the second-fastest in IPL history — against Gujarat Titans (GT) in only his third IPL match.

His innings, featuring a staggering 11 sixes and 94 runs in boundaries, eclipsed Yusuf Pathan’s 37-ball record for the fastest IPL century by an Indian. Only Chris Gayle’s iconic 30-ball hundred in 2013 was faster overall. Suryavanshi brought up his milestone with a pulled six off Rashid Khan, who was leading GT after Shubman Gill’s injury substitution.

Suryavanshi’s 101 off 38 balls left RR well on track to chase down GT's 210, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (70* off 40) and captain Riyan Parag finishing the job with eight wickets and 25 balls to spare.

"It feels really good. This is something I have dreamed about," said Suryavanshi, who was named Player of the Match. "I've just been focusing on my batting, not thinking too much about the bowlers."

RR batting coach Vikram Rathour praised Suryavanshi’s natural power and technical downswing, describing him as a "special, special talent." Rathour highlighted that Suryavanshi regularly challenged Jofra Archer in the nets, showing fearlessness against express pace.

Interestingly, Suryavanshi's opportunity came only because regular captain Sanju Samson was sidelined with an abdominal injury. Before his breakthrough IPL ton, Suryavanshi had impressed at the youth level, including a 58-ball hundred against Australia Under-19s and a triple-century in domestic Under-19 cricket.

Riyan Parag summed it up best: "We knew what he could do, but seeing him do it under pressure, against top-class bowlers, was something else entirely."
