Sai Sudharsan reclaims the IPL 2025 Orange Cap from Kohli

The race for the IPL 2025 Orange Cap continues to heat up, with the leaderboard changing hands almost every match. After Monday’s clash between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT), Sai Sudharsan has reclaimed the top spot.

GT opener Sai Sudharsan, who was earlier overtaken by Suryakumar Yadav (Mumbai Indians) and then Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bengaluru), returned to No. 1 with 456 runs from nine innings following his 39 off 30 balls against RR. While not his most explosive knock, it was enough to move him 13 runs ahead of Kohli (443) and 29 clear of Suryakumar (427).

Two other big names also strengthened their positions in the top five: Yashasvi Jaiswal (RR) climbed to No. 4 with an unbeaten 70 off 40 balls (426 runs overall), while Jos Buttler (GT) sits at No. 5 with 406 runs after his quickfire 50*. Nicholas Pooran (Lucknow Super Giants) remains the only other batter to have crossed the 400-run mark this season.

Purple Cap Standings

It was a tough day for bowlers in Jaipur, with 421 runs scored across 35.5 overs. However, Prasidh Krishna’s dismissal of the sensational Vaibhav Suryavanshi (who hammered 101) lifted him to 17 wickets — just one behind Josh Hazlewood (RCB), the current Purple Cap leader.

Chennai Super Kings’ Noor Ahmad is in third place with 14 wickets, while Harshal Patel (Sunrisers Hyderabad), Krunal Pandya (RCB), and Trent Boult (Mumbai Indians) are all tied at 13 wickets.
