South Africa’s Codi Yusuf Rejoins Durham for All Formats Through September After Impressive Test Debut

South African fast bowler Codi Yusuf has re-signed with Durham and will be available across all formats until early September, beginning with the club’s upcoming Vitality Blast fixture against Northamptonshire on Friday night. The move marks a return for Yusuf, who had a productive short-term stint with Durham earlier in the season, claiming 17 wickets in just four County Championship matches.

Following his standout performances in county cricket, Yusuf earned a call-up to South Africa’s Test squad for the tour of Zimbabwe. He made an immediate impact at the international level, picking up 10 wickets at an outstanding average of 12.20 across two Tests—highlighting his readiness for the highest stage.

Yusuf’s return provides a timely boost to Durham, who are aiming to secure their spot in the Vitality Blast quarter-finals with a win on Friday. With experience in T20s, including the SA20 league where he represented the Paarl Royals, Yusuf is expected to slot straight into the T20 setup.

In addition to his involvement in the Blast, Yusuf will also feature in the final rounds of the County Championship and the One-Day Cup group stage in August, reinforcing Durham’s bowling unit during a packed and crucial phase of the season.

Durham’s director of cricket, Marcus North, praised the re-signing: “Codi was a great addition during his earlier spell with us this season. He showed great commitment and delivered strong performances that fully justified his recall. We’re excited to welcome him back to Chester-le-Street.”
