Shaun Tait Appointed as Bangladesh Fast-Bowling Coach Until 2027

Former Australian speedster Shaun Tait has been named the new fast-bowling coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team, with a contract that runs through November 2027. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the appointment as part of its long-term planning for a busy international calendar and major upcoming tournaments, including the 2026 T20 World Cup and the 2027 50-over World Cup.

Tait takes over from Andre Adams, whose stint ended through mutual agreement with the BCB. Adams had joined the setup in March 2024, overseeing Bangladesh’s pace development through the 2024 T20 World Cup and into the 2025 Champions Trophy. His exit comes at a pivotal moment, as Bangladesh prepares for a packed season of T20Is, ODIs, and Tests, including a full-format tour of Sri Lanka in June and July.

Calling it a “new era” for Bangladesh cricket, Tait expressed enthusiasm about working with a talented group of young fast bowlers and with head coach Phil Simmons. “It’s a good time to be involved with the Bangladesh cricket team,” Tait said. “This is international cricket, not a development team, and everyone expects the talent to bring results. That’s my focus—getting more wins for the team.”

Tait brings with him significant experience in the subcontinent, having coached bowling units for Pakistan, West Indies, and Afghanistan, and in franchise cricket across the BBL, PSL, LPL, and English county cricket. He also worked recently with Chittagong Kings in the Bangladesh Premier League, where he mentored pacers like Shoriful Islam and Khaled Ahmed.

One of the fastest bowlers in cricket history, Tait played 59 international matches for Australia between 2005 and 2016 and was instrumental in their 2007 ODI World Cup triumph. His blend of raw pace and international coaching experience is expected to sharpen Bangladesh's pace attack as they strive for consistency and competitiveness on the global stage.
