IPL 2025 Orange & Purple Cap Update: Sai Sudharsan Climbs to No. 2 After GT’s Win Over MI

Following Gujarat Titans' (GT) win over Mumbai Indians (MI) on Saturday, there's a shake-up in the Orange Cap standings, with B Sai Sudharsan climbing to the No. 2 spot in IPL 2025.

🟧 Orange Cap Standings

Nicholas Pooran continues to lead the run-scoring charts with explosive knocks of 75 off 30 balls against Delhi Capitals (DC) and 70 off 26 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). One innings came while chasing and the other while setting a total. Pooran is also dominating the six-hitting leaderboard with 13 sixes in just two games, and his jaw-dropping strike rate of 258.92 is unmatched.

B Sai Sudharsan, though not quite as explosive, has shown consistency and intent. His two innings — 74 vs Punjab Kings (PBKS) and 63 vs MI — both came off exactly 41 balls, bringing his total to 137 runs at a strike rate of 167.07, along with eight sixes. His form at the top has been a promising sign for GT.

Mitchell Marsh, playing purely as a batter for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) this season, is currently third with 124 runs. He scored 72 off 36 against DC and 52 off 31 versus SRH, offering his team solid starts in both outings.

There has been no change at the top of the Purple Cap leaderboard.

Noor Ahmad remains in the lead after a stellar showing against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), where he dismissed Phil Salt (32), Virat Kohli (31), and later Liam Livingstone to take his wicket tally to 7. He had earlier starred in the tournament opener with figures of 4 for 18 against MI in Chennai, earning Player-of-the-Match honors.

Shardul Thakur follows close behind with 6 wickets in two games. He bagged 4 for 34 against SRH, including a double-strike in the third over to remove Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan. He also picked up 2 for 19 in LSG’s season opener against DC.

Josh Hazlewood (RCB) has broken into the top three after an impressive 3 for 21 against CSK. He took out Rahul Tripathi (5), Ruturaj Gaikwad (0) early, and later dismissed Ravindra Jadeja (25). His opening match figures were 2 for 22 against KKR.
