Rizvi leads early Orange Cap race; Bishnoi tops bowlers

The early stages of IPL 2026 have produced an unexpected leader in the Orange Cap race, with Sameer Rizvi emerging as the tournament’s top run-scorer after the first 11 matches.

Representing Delhi Capitals, Rizvi has amassed 160 runs in just two innings, playing decisive roles in successful chases against Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians. His unbeaten 70 and a fluent 90 not only secured victories but also highlighted his growing maturity and finishing ability under pressure.

Close behind him is Heinrich Klaasen of Sunrisers Hyderabad, who has compiled 145 runs in three innings. Klaasen’s consistency has been a bright spot for SRH, while Rohit Sharma has also made a strong start for Mumbai Indians, scoring 113 runs, including a commanding 78 against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Other batters making early impressions include Devdutt Padikkal (111), Cooper Connolly (108), and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (103), underlining the depth of batting talent across teams.

In the bowling charts, Ravi Bishnoi of Rajasthan Royals holds the Purple Cap, thanks largely to his match-winning 4 for 41 against Gujarat Titans. However, the race remains tightly contested.

Three others—Vijaykumar Vyshak (Punjab Kings), Jacob Duffy (Royal Challengers Bengaluru), and Anshul Kamboj (Chennai Super Kings)—are level with him on five wickets each.

With the tournament still in its early phase, both leaderboards remain fluid. Yet, Rizvi’s breakout performances and Bishnoi’s impact with the ball have already set the tone for what promises to be a fiercely competitive IPL season.
