Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have received a major boost ahead of the IPL 2025 playoffs with the return of several key overseas players, reinforcing their squad at a crucial juncture of the tournament. Hard-hitting finisher Tim David, explosive allrounder Romario Shepherd, and pace bowler Lungi Ngidi have rejoined the team in Bengaluru, while Jacob Bethell, Liam Livingstone, and Phil Salt are also confirmed to be available for the remainder of the season, with a few caveats. Jacob Bethell, despite his impactful presence, will only be available for two matches before returning to England for national duties, missing RCB’s final league game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 27. Phil Salt, however, is set to stay with the team till the end of the tournament, with his international commitments for England’s T20I series against West Indies only beginning after the IPL concludes on June 3. Romario Shepherd, who recently lit up the league with a blistering 14-ball 53* against Chennai Super Kings, has received full clearance from Cricket West Indies and will remain with RCB until the end. On the other hand, Lungi Ngidi is expected to depart after the league stage to join South Africa’s squad for the World Test Championship final at Lord’s, beginning June 11. RCB are still awaiting clarity on the availability of Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, who is nursing a minor shoulder niggle. Though his injury is not considered serious, the franchise awaits a fitness update from Cricket Australia; Hazlewood remains part of Australia’s WTC final squad. With eight wins from eleven matches, RCB are on the brink of playoff qualification and need just one more win to secure a top-four finish. They resume their campaign on Saturday with a crucial home match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), whom they have already beaten once this season, and wrap up the league phase with an away game against LSG. This influx of overseas firepower at a decisive stage could significantly bolster RCB’s title hopes as they push for a strong finish in the league and a deep run in the playoffs.
