PBKS Overseas Trio Confirm Return as Team Regroups in Jaipur for IPL 2025 Resumption

Punjab Kings (PBKS) have received confirmation from three of their overseas players—Xavier Bartlett, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Mitchell Owen—that they will return to India for the remainder of IPL 2025, which resumes on May 17. However, uncertainty remains over the return of Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, Josh Inglis, and Aaron Hardie. Notably, Jansen and Inglis have been named in South Africa and Australia’s Test squads for the World Test Championship (WTC) final, scheduled for June 11 at Lord’s, potentially affecting their availability. While all PBKS overseas players had returned home during the week-long suspension of the IPL due to India-Pakistan tensions, most of the overseas coaching staff—including head coach Ricky Ponting and assistants Brad Haddin and James Hopes—remained in India. The franchise has asked all players and staff to regroup within the next two days. PBKS will resume training in Jaipur, which will serve as their base for the final stretch, with matches against Rajasthan Royals on May 18, Delhi Capitals on May 24, and Mumbai Indians on May 26. PBKS currently sit third on the points table with 15 points from 11 completed matches. Their 12th game, against Delhi Capitals on May 8 in Dharamsala, was abandoned during the first innings due to the political unrest that led to the IPL's temporary suspension.
