As the IPL 2025 prepares to resume on May 17, most of Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) overseas players are expected to arrive in Bengaluru between Wednesday night and Thursday morning. The team will resume its campaign with a must-win encounter against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. KKR’s West Indian group—Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Rovman Powell, and team mentor Dwayne Bravo—has been stationed in Dubai since the IPL was paused on May 9 due to India-Pakistan tensions. With a ceasefire announced on May 10 and the IPL’s restart confirmed soon after, franchises began recalling their overseas players. Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz will join the West Indian group in Dubai before flying to India, while South African pacer Anrich Nortje is expected to join directly from the Maldives. Updates are still awaited on the availability of Moeen Ali and Spencer Johnson, who are currently in the UK and Australia, respectively, while Quinton de Kock's return also remains unconfirmed. KKR’s Indian squad members and support staff are expected to reach Bengaluru in phases. Currently sixth on the points table with five wins and a no-result from 12 games, KKR must win both of their remaining league matches—against RCB on May 17 and Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 25 in Delhi—to reach 15 points and keep their playoff hopes alive. The revised IPL schedule features 13 league matches and four playoff fixtures, with playoff venues yet to be finalized. The playoff dates are: May 29 (Qualifier 1), May 30 (Eliminator), June 1 (Qualifier 2), and June 3 (Final).
