Noor Ahmad and Harshal Patel climb IPL Purple Cap rankings

The IPL 2025 bowling charts saw some fresh movement following the match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Chennai. Here’s the updated picture:

Purple Cap Standings

Gujarat Titans' pacer Prasidh Krishna continues to lead the Purple Cap race with 16 wickets in eight matches. Close behind him is RCB's Josh Hazlewood, who also has 16 wickets after his brilliant 4 for 33 against Rajasthan Royals. However, Prasidh holds the top spot thanks to a better economy rate.

CSK’s Noor Ahmad climbed back into the top three after taking 2 for 42 against SRH, bringing his season tally to 14 wickets. Noor, who led the Purple Cap standings earlier in the season, had dropped down after a couple of wicketless outings but is back among the leaders.

Right behind Noor is SRH's Harshal Patel, who has collected 13 wickets so far. His latest outing saw him grab 4 for 20 against CSK, including crucial scalps like Dewald Brevis and MS Dhoni.

Chasing them is a group of seven bowlers tied on 12 wickets each: R Sai Kishore (GT), Kuldeep Yadav (DC), Hardik Pandya (MI), Krunal Pandya (RCB), Mohammed Siraj (GT), Khaleel Ahmed (CSK), and Shardul Thakur (LSG).

Orange Cap Standings

On the batting side, Gujarat Titans' B Sai Sudharsan remains atop the Orange Cap list with 417 runs from eight games at an average of 52.12 and a strike rate of 152.18. Hot on his heels is Virat Kohli, who moved to second after a fluent 70 off 42 balls against Rajasthan Royals, taking his tally to 392 runs in nine innings.

Lucknow Super Giants' Nicholas Pooran, who started the tournament on fire and held the Orange Cap for a long stretch, has dropped to third with 377 runs after a few lean outings.

Mumbai Indians' Suryakumar Yadav, the picture of consistency this season, sits fourth with 373 runs. Notably, he hasn’t registered a single-digit score yet, with innings of 29, 48, 27*, 67, 28, 40, 26, 68*, and 40*.

Close behind him are Jos Buttler (GT) and Yashasvi Jaiswal, both with 356 runs. Buttler has played one fewer innings than Jaiswal, who, after a slow start to the season, has found form with scores of 75, 51, 74, and 49 in his last four innings.
