Nasir Hossain Returns to Competitive Cricket After Serving Two-Year Ban

Bangladesh allrounder Nasir Hossain has made his return to competitive cricket following the completion of a two-year ban imposed by the ICC for breaching the Emirates Cricket Board’s anti-corruption code during the Abu Dhabi T10 League in 2020-21.

Nasir featured for Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club in the Dhaka Premier Division League on Monday, facing off against Gazi Group Cricketers in Mirpur.

In a statement, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed:
"As per the terms of the sanction, Nasir Hossain has now fulfilled all requirements, including completing the mandatory anti-corruption education session. This has paved the way for his eligibility to re-enter official cricket as of April 7, 2025."

Nasir was among eight individuals linked to the Pune Devils franchise who were charged by the ICC in September 2023. His two-year ban included six months suspended.

Charges Against Nasir:

1. Failure to report a gift valued over USD 750 — specifically, an iPhone 12 — to the designated anti-corruption officer.

2. Failure to disclose an approach to engage in corrupt conduct, communicated via the same device.

3. Non-cooperation with the investigation without valid justification.

Nasir accepted all three charges.

The 32-year-old last represented Bangladesh in 2018 and has played 19 Tests, 65 ODIs, and 31 T20Is. Prior to his return on Monday, his last competitive match was in May 2023, representing Prime Bank Cricket Club in a List A game — also against Gazi Group Cricketers.
