Nandre Burger Ruled Out of Remaining MLC 2026 Matches Due to Back Injury

Nandre Burger has been ruled out of the remainder of the Major League Cricket 2026 season after a pre-existing stress reaction in his back resurfaced, dealing a blow to the Texas Super Kings pace attack.

The left-arm South African quick featured in two matches for Texas this season, claiming one wicket in six overs while maintaining an economy of 6.66. His injury could also raise concerns for South Africa national cricket team ahead of a packed home Test season later this year.

To fill the void, Texas have brought in fellow South African allrounder Dian Forrester as Burger’s replacement. Forrester is no stranger to the Super Kings setup, having previously worked under coach Stephen Fleming in the SA20 and with Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.

Texas are already battling squad issues, with captain Faf du Plessis recently missing a match due to back spasms. With just one win in three games, the Super Kings sit near the bottom of the MLC table and will be hoping the new addition strengthens their campaign.
