I’m not saying I’m done, I’m not saying I’m coming back.” The 44-year-old acknowledged the increasing physical demands of top-level cricket but emphasized that retirement should not be based on performance alone, noting the importance of fitness, hunger, and team requirements. CSK endured a disappointing season, finishing at the bottom of the table for the first time in 16 years, with only four wins in 14 matches. Dhoni had taken over the captaincy mid-season after Ruturaj Gaikwad was sidelined with an injury.
