Mo Bobat Named London Spirit’s Director of Cricket Ahead of 2026 Season

London Spirit, the Hundred franchise based at Lord’s, has appointed Mo Bobat, currently the Director of Cricket for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, as its Director of Cricket, effective 1 October 2025. He will continue his IPL role while also taking charge of Spirit’s cricket operations.

The appointment comes as the club transitions to a new ownership model, with the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) holding a 51% stake and US-based investment group Tech Titans owning the remaining 49%. While the franchise will retain the London Spirit name, a refreshed brand identity—potentially incorporating MCC’s iconic egg-and-bacon colours—is planned for the 2026 season.

Bobat, who previously served as England Men’s Performance Director, described the role as an honour and a unique opportunity to shape the team’s future at a crucial time. He expressed excitement about collaborating with MCC and Tech Titans to strengthen the franchise’s position in The Hundred.

Club chairman Julian Metherell called Bobat’s arrival a significant moment, praising his expertise, leadership, and cricketing vision. He reaffirmed the decision to keep the London Spirit name, citing its strong connection to the capital’s energy, diversity, and sporting tradition.
