LSG and GT face reality check after last-ball thrillers

Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans head into their IPL 2026 showdown on April 12, 2026, at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, with the match set to begin at 3:30 PM IST.

Both teams arrive on the back of dramatic last-ball wins, but those thrilling finishes have also exposed areas that need improvement. LSG edged out Kolkata Knight Riders in a tense chase, while GT narrowly defeated Delhi Capitals in another nail-biter.

For LSG, concerns remain around batting consistency. Captain Rishabh Pant has shown resilience but is yet to find fluency, especially against short-pitched bowling. Nicholas Pooran has also struggled, putting pressure on the middle order despite strong contributions from Ayush Badoni and Mukul Choudhary.

Gujarat Titans, meanwhile, have looked steady but not dominant. Their batting, led by Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler, has been consistent without fully accelerating. In the bowling department, Mohammed Siraj is yet to make a major impact in the powerplay.

A big positive for GT has been the return to form of Rashid Khan, whose control and wicket-taking ability in the middle overs could prove decisive. His contest with Pant will be one to watch.

This fixture acts as a key checkpoint for both teams. While narrow wins boost morale, they can mask deeper issues. With pressure building early in the season, this match will reveal which side is truly finding rhythm and which is surviving on fine margins.

Fans can expect a closely fought contest where execution and composure will likely determine the winner.
