Dhoni became one of three batters to fall to Narine, who once again bowled four overs without conceding a boundary—an IPL record he has now achieved 16 times.

Boundaries Dry Up, Collapse Ensues

CSK’s batting collapse was stark—they went 63 balls without hitting a boundary and managed just three after the eighth over, one of which came via a top edge. The team’s decision to use Deepak Hooda as an Impact Player backfired, as he fell for a duck. Meanwhile, speedster Matheesha Pathirana was unavailable, further weakening their defense.

KKR’s Chase: Brutal and Brief

Chasing a modest target of 104, KKR made a mockery of the chase. CSK’s bowlers, perhaps overzealous in their wicket-hunting approach, leaked runs instead. KKR blasted 71 runs in the powerplay, effectively ending the contest. Narine top-scored with a quickfire 44 as the Knight Riders romped home with 59 balls to spare—the largest margin of defeat by balls remaining CSK have ever faced in IPL history.

The loss leaves CSK marooned in ninth place on the points table, just above Sunrisers Hyderabad, who trail them only on net run rate.
