IPL 2025 Orange and Purple Cap standings: Starc climbs back to second place

There’s been no movement at the top of the run-scorers chart in IPL 2025, but the race for the Purple Cap saw a few changes following Saturday’s double-header. Here’s the updated look at the Orange and Purple Cap standings:

Purple Cap Update

CSK's left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad remains on top, strengthening his lead by dismissing DC skipper Axar Patel. He’s now the first bowler this season to reach double digits in wickets, with 10 in total. His standout performance remains the 4 for 18 against Mumbai Indians.

Mitchell Starc has moved back up to second place after claiming a wicket in the third over of the clash between DC and CSK. That took his tally to nine wickets in just three matches. His best so far remains the 5 for 35 against Sunrisers Hyderabad—his career-best figures in T20 cricket.

MI captain Hardik Pandya, who bagged a five-wicket haul against Lucknow Super Giants on Friday, has slipped to third. His haul was the second five-for of the season, following Starc’s earlier effort.

Orange Cap Update

Nicholas Pooran held on to the Orange Cap despite a modest 12-run outing against MI. The LSG batter has accumulated 201 runs in four innings, thanks largely to a flying start to the season that included knocks of 75 (vs DC), 70 (vs SRH), and 44 (vs PBKS).

Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan is right behind in second after scoring 49 off 36 balls against RCB. He had earlier posted 74 and 63, keeping his campaign consistent.

Mitchell Marsh reclaims third spot with a fluent 60 off 31 balls against MI, a key knock in LSG’s victory. Despite a duck against PBKS, Marsh has notched up half-centuries in each of his other three innings, taking his tally to 184 runs from four matches.
