Ferreira’s Six-Hitting Power Key as RR Face GT Tonight in Jaipur

Rajasthan Royals will face Gujarat Titans today at 7:30 PM at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, and one player who could play a major role for RR is Donovan Ferreira. The South African finisher has become one of the most dangerous six-hitters in IPL 2026, especially in the final overs.

Ferreira has been outstanding between overs 16 and 20, matching Royal Challengers Bengaluru finisher Tim David with 13 sixes in this phase. His power-hitting has made him one of RR’s biggest weapons at the death, where games are often decided by a few big overs.

What makes Ferreira special is his ability to attack even quality deliveries. Bowlers have used yorkers as their main weapon in the death overs, but Ferreira has shown that he can dig out balls from the blockhole and still send them for six. He has already taken on bowlers like Mitchell Starc and T Natarajan with clean power and strong balance.

Former South African allrounder Albie Morkel, who has worked closely with Ferreira, believes his strength comes from natural hitting ability and years of training. According to Morkel, Ferreira is especially dangerous when the scoreboard clearly tells him what is required.

RR signed Ferreira through a trade for INR 1 crore, and he has now grown into their main finishing option. His rise has also kept the experienced Shimron Hetmyer out of the playing XI, showing how much trust Rajasthan have placed in him.

Although Ferreira was earlier seen as stronger against pace than spin, he has improved that part of his game too. His recent attack on Kuldeep Yadav showed that he is becoming a more complete finisher.

Against GT tonight in Jaipur, RR will hope Ferreira can again provide the late fireworks and turn pressure into momentum.
