Fatima Sana fined for Shafali Verma send-off during Asia Cup clash

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana has been fined 10% of her match fee and handed one demerit point for her send-off to India opener Shafali Verma during their Women's T20 Asia Cup encounter in Dubai.

The incident occurred in the second over of India's chase after Shafali returned a catch to Sana, who celebrated by gesturing towards the pavilion. The gesture was deemed to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which covers actions or gestures that could disparage or provoke an aggressive reaction from a dismissed batter.

Sana was charged by the match officials and admitted the offence during her hearing with match referee Supriya Rani Das. As this was her second offence within a 24-month period, the additional demerit point took her disciplinary tally to two.

Despite Sana claiming all three Indian wickets, Pakistan were bowled out for just 55, with India's spinners dominating the contest. N Shree Charani, Prema Rawat, Deepti Sharma and Shafali Verma combined to dismantle Pakistan's batting line-up before India chased down the target comfortably by seven wickets.

Pakistan, who have one win from two matches, will face Hong Kong in their final group game on Monday. India have already secured top spot in the group and will play the first semi-final on Thursday.
