Trinbago Knight Riders have named former West Indies star allrounder Dwayne Bravo as their new head coach for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 season, marking another major step in Bravo’s post-retirement coaching career. He replaces Phil Simmons, who has transitioned to the role of Bangladesh men's head coach. In a statement, Bravo expressed his pride at leading a franchise he holds dear, thanking Simmons for his service and embracing the new challenge. A CPL icon, Bravo played 107 matches over 11 seasons, took 129 wickets at an economy of 8.74, and won five CPL titles—four with TKR and one with St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in 2021 as captain. Since retiring from playing, Bravo has quickly risen through the coaching ranks, leading Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20, mentoring Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2025, and serving as bowling consultant for Chennai Super Kings and Afghanistan at the 2024 T20 World Cup. His deep ties to the Knight Riders franchise network and broad coaching experience make him a natural fit to lead TKR in a pivotal season. The 2025 CPL will run from August 14 to September 21, with TKR aiming to improve on last year’s campaign, where they finished third in the league and exited after a loss to Barbados Royals in the Eliminator.
