Corbin Bosch suspended from PSL for a year after pulling out of 2025 season

South African allrounder Corbin Bosch has been banned from participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for one year after withdrawing from the 2025 edition despite being selected at the draft.

Bosch, picked by Peshawar Zalmi as a diamond category player, opted out of the tournament after being signed as an injury replacement by Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL), which overlaps with this year's PSL.

His withdrawal prompted the PCB to issue a legal notice for breach of contract. In a statement published on the board’s website, the PCB confirmed Bosch had expressed remorse for his decision and would be barred from playing in PSL 2026 as a result.

"I deeply regret my decision to withdraw from the PSL and offer my sincere apologies to the people of Pakistan, the fans of Peshawar Zalmi, and the wider cricket community," Bosch said in a statement. "I accept full responsibility for my actions and the resulting consequences, including the fine and the one-year ban. I hope to return in the future with renewed commitment and regain the trust of fans."

The PCB's stance aims to deter future player withdrawals in favor of the IPL, particularly if the scheduling clash between the two leagues continues. The PSL had shifted into the IPL window to increase player availability and held its draft after the IPL auction to select from players not picked by IPL franchises.

The 2025 PSL season kicks off on April 11 with defending champions Islamabad United facing Lahore Qalandars in Rawalpindi.
