BCCI Unveils Structured Support Plan for Cricket Association for the Blind in India

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled a comprehensive “structured support” framework for the men’s and women’s teams under the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), aimed at enhancing international exposure, strengthening home series logistics and expanding access to top-tier venues.

Under the new initiative, both teams will receive funding for participation in two overseas tournaments annually. The BCCI will also provide accommodation support for home and visiting sides during bilateral series staged in India, along with access to BCCI-affiliated stadia and grounds for domestic and international fixtures.

India’s visually impaired cricketers have enjoyed sustained success on the global stage. The men’s team has claimed multiple world championship titles over the years, while the women’s side captured the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind in 2025 — a landmark achievement for the sport.

BCCI president Mithun Manhas described the teams’ accomplishments as a matter of national pride and reiterated the board’s commitment to inclusive growth. He said the new framework is designed to strengthen opportunities, infrastructure and international exposure for visually impaired athletes, enabling them to pursue excellence with greater confidence.

The BCCI added that it looks forward to working closely with CABI to implement the initiatives and create broader pathways for participation and development. The move marks a significant step in integrating blind cricket more deeply into India’s mainstream cricketing ecosystem, reinforcing the message that the sport remains accessible and aspirational for all.
