Zimbabwe to Host South Africa and New Zealand for Landmark Test and T20I Summer

Zimbabwe is set for a thrilling home season as it prepares to host South Africa and New Zealand for a packed schedule of international cricket, featuring two-Test series against both nations and a T20I tri-series, running from June 28 to August 11.

Described by Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) managing director Givemore Makoni as “the biggest international home season we have had in years,” the tour marks a return to Test cricket between Zimbabwe and South Africa for the first time since 2017, and their first in Zimbabwe since 2014. It will also be the first time Zimbabwe plays Test cricket against New Zealand since August 2016.

The season kicks off with a two-Test series against South Africa in Bulawayo, scheduled from June 28 to July 10. That will be followed by a T20I tri-series featuring Zimbabwe, South Africa, and New Zealand, with all matches taking place in Harare from July 14 to July 26. Each team will play the others twice in the round-robin stage, with the top two meeting in the final.

After the T20Is, Zimbabwe and New Zealand will face off in another two-Test series in Bulawayo, from July 30 to August 11.

“This is an incredible opportunity for our players to test themselves against two of the world’s cricketing powerhouses,” Makoni said. “Hosting both Test matches and a high-profile T20I tri-series is a major boost for cricket in Zimbabwe. We’re excited to welcome the teams and deliver a memorable experience for our passionate fans.”

The last time Zimbabwe hosted a T20I tri-series was in July 2018, which featured Australia and Pakistan.
