Yorkshire sign Hasan Ali as overseas boost for T20 Blast

Yorkshire have strengthened their squad for the upcoming T20 Blast by signing Hasan Ali as an overseas player, stepping in for the injured Naveen-ul-Haq.

Naveen was initially set to represent Yorkshire this season but has been ruled out after suffering a stress fracture in his right shoulder earlier this year. The injury also kept him out of the T20 World Cup, leaving Yorkshire in need of a replacement ahead of the competition.

Hasan Ali, 31, brings a wealth of experience to the side. Having represented Pakistan in 57 T20 internationals, he has built a strong reputation as a wicket-taking bowler, particularly in the shorter format. His previous stints in county cricket, including spells with Warwickshire and Lancashire, have been highly successful. Between 2023 and 2025, he claimed 44 wickets in the Blast at an impressive average, highlighting his effectiveness in English conditions.

Currently in fine form in the Pakistan Super League, Hasan is among the leading wicket-takers this season, further underlining his value as a late addition. Yorkshire expect him to be available for the entire group stage of the T20 Blast, along with two County Championship matches against Warwickshire and Leicestershire.

Yorkshire’s management expressed confidence in the signing, describing Hasan as a high-quality replacement who can make an immediate impact. His ability to deliver in pressure situations, especially in the death overs, is expected to add a crucial edge to the team’s bowling attack.

With Hasan Ali’s arrival, Yorkshire will hope to remain competitive in the Blast, as they look to challenge for silverware with a more experienced and balanced squad.
