West Indies have named an unchanged squad for their upcoming home Women’s T20I series against Australia as they continue preparations for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England.
Captain Hayley Matthews will lead the same group that recently suffered a 2-0 series defeat to Sri Lanka. The Caribbean side will face the top-ranked Australian team in a three-match T20I series at Arnos Vale Cricket Ground in Kingstown, St Vincent. The matches are scheduled for March 19, 21 and 23.
The squad blends experienced internationals with emerging young talent. Senior players such as Matthews, Stafanie Taylor, Shemaine Campbelle and Deandra Dottin will provide leadership, while teenagers Eboni Brathwaite and Jahzara Claxton continue to gain international exposure.
Head coach Shane Deitz believes the series will provide a valuable benchmark for the team before the global tournament in June.
“We’re really excited about the opportunity to play the number one-ranked team in the world,” Deitz said. “With the World Cup approaching, this series will help us see where we stand in our preparation. Playing against the best allows us to identify both our strengths and the areas we still need to improve.”
The two sides have not faced each other in an international match since October 2023, making the upcoming series an important opportunity for West Indies to test their progress.
Following the T20Is, the teams will also contest a three-match ODI series at Warner Park in St Kitts and Nevis. The tour originally included a Test match, but it was dropped as the hosts opted to prioritise white-ball cricket in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup.
West Indies will hope home conditions and the experience within their squad can help them challenge Australia, widely regarded as the dominant force in women’s cricket.
