UAE Batter Asif Khan Suspended for 15 Months Over Anti-Doping Violation

UAE batter Asif Khan has been handed a 15-month ban after admitting to an anti-doping violation, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced.

The 36-year-old tested positive for a metabolite of mesterolone during an out-of-competition test conducted in September 2025. He admitted breaching Article 2.1 of the ICC Anti-Doping Code and accepted the sanction through a case resolution agreement involving the ICC and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

The suspension is effective from September 8, 2025, until December 7, 2026. Asif will be permitted to resume team training from October 8, but he will not be eligible to play until December 8, 2026.

His individual results between September 8 and his provisional suspension on December 29, 2025, have also been disqualified, including the loss of any associated points, prize money, medals or awards.

Asif, a former Pakistan Under-19 player, made his UAE debut in March 2022. He went on to represent the UAE in 38 ODIs and 56 T20Is, with his final three T20I appearances coming against India, Oman and Pakistan during the 2025 T20 Asia Cup. Those matches, played after September 8, have now been removed from his record.

With the ban extending into December 2026, Asif will remain unavailable for competitive cricket until the completion of his suspension.
