Tyson and McCaughan Star as Hampshire Hawks Outclass Thunder

Hampshire Hawks claimed a dominant eight-wicket win over Lancashire Thunder at Emirates Old Trafford in a clash between two of the in-form sides in English women's county cricket. Spinner Bex Tyson and opener Ella McCaughan were the standout performers in Hampshire’s second straight Vitality Blast victory.

After being put in to bat, Thunder could only manage 122 for 8, stifled by tight bowling and sharp fielding. Tyson, the left-arm spinner, led the attack with an excellent 3 for 27, claiming her best figures of the season. She was well supported by off-spinners Georgia Adams and Charli Knott, with spin accounting for five wickets.

Thunder's innings never gained momentum, slumping to 20 for 1 in the powerplay and 77 for 4 after 15 overs. Ailsa Lister (37* off 20) struck two late sixes to lift them past 100 after the top order failed to fire.

In reply, McCaughan played a composed knock, finishing unbeaten on a career-best 68 off 57 balls (8 fours), as Hampshire chased down the target with an over to spare. She shared useful stands with Maia Bouchier (12) and Charli Knott (21) before sealing the win in style.

Hampshire now lead the Metro Bank One-Day Cup standings and have made a perfect start to the Blast campaign. Lancashire Thunder, despite winning the County T20 Cup last month, slipped to a 1-2 record in the competition.
