Tenjin Rabgey's 108 from 58 balls, the highest individual score by a Bhutan batter in a men's Twenty20 international, set up a 136-run win over Mongolia in Bangi on Thursday
Bhutan won the toss, chose to bat and made 203 for 5 at the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval in the eighth match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub Regional Asia Qualifier A. Mongolia were bowled out for 67 in 15 overs.
Rabgey, named player of the match, found his only sustained support from Sonam Chophel, whose 58 from 39 balls was the innings' other half-century. The pair accounted for 166 of Bhutan's total between them.
It is Bhutan's second win in three matches and lifts them to four points, third in the group behind the unbeaten Kuwait and Bahrain. The top two sides go through to the regional final, where they will meet qualifiers from the parallel Qualifier B.
Bhutan's batting record had stood since December 2025, when Namgay Thinley made 100 against Myanmar at Gelephu — the first hundred by a Bhutanese man in the format and, until Thursday, the country's highest individual score in a T20 international.
Rabgey's 108 from 58 balls betters it, at a strike rate of 186. The innings did not take Bhutan past the 216 for 8 they posted in that same match at Gelephu, which remains their highest total.
Chophel's 58 came from 39 deliveries, a strike rate of 149. The two half-centuries carried an innings in which Bhutan lost five wickets and faced their full 20 overs.
Sodbileg Gantulga was the pick of the attack, taking 2-21 from his three overs.
The captain, Luwsanzundui Erdenebulgan, also took two, conceding 32 from his four. Between them they accounted for four of the five wickets to fall.
The chase never settled. Od Lutbayar was bowled by Karma Dorji without scoring, and Mongolia lost wickets in clusters from there.
Gantulga top-scored with 23 from 19 balls, the only Mongolia batter to pass 15. Gandemberel Ganbold made 13 from 11 and the wicketkeeper Bat-yalalt Namsrai 13 from 21.
Six of the eleven were dismissed without scoring. The innings closed on 67 inside 15 overs, with five extras, and the margin of 136 runs is the heaviest Bhutan have inflicted in this qualifier.
Tashi Dorji finished with 4-15 from his four overs, and Sonam Yeshey took 3-8, conceding at two an over.
Tashi Phuntsho added 2-11 from two overs and Karma Dorji 1-11 from two. Thinley Jamtsho was the only Bhutan bowler to go wicketless, with 0-22 from three.
Yeshey already holds Bhutan's best figures in a men's T20 international, the 8-7 he took against Myanmar at Gelephu in December 2025.
Kuwait lead on six points from three matches with a net run rate of 5.884, Bahrain are second on six, and Bhutan are third on four with 1.617. Mongolia remain on nought from two games, their net run rate at −7.743.
Bhutan opened the tournament by beating Myanmar by 27 runs on 5 October before losing to Bahrain by 66 runs the following day. Mongolia's other fixture, against Kuwait, ended in a ten-wicket defeat.
Mongolia return on Friday against Thailand, who are also without a win. Bhutan's next match is against Qatar on Sunday, with the group running to 14 October.
Scorecard: Bhutan 203 for 5 (Tenjin Rabgey 108, Sonam Chophel 58; Sodbileg Gantulga 2-21, Luwsanzundui Erdenebulgan 2-32) beat Mongolia 67 all out (Sodbileg Gantulga 23; Tashi Dorji 4-15, Sonam Yeshey 3-8) by 136 runs.
