Shanto pushed back against the idea that players remain untouched by off-field noise, saying the squad often “acts as if nothing affects us” when the reality is far more complex.
He stressed that while professionals are expected to focus on cricket, prolonged uncertainty around venues and participation inevitably seeps into preparation and mindset. Planning, recovery, and mental readiness, Shanto noted, all suffer when clarity is missing.
Despite the frustration, he reiterated the players’ commitment to performing whenever and wherever they are asked to play. However, he urged administrators to recognise the human element behind elite sport, where constant questions can become a distraction.
