Shafali Verma, Sneh Rana Return as India Announce T20I and ODI Squads for England Tour; Several New Faces Included

India have announced their women’s squads for the upcoming white-ball tour of England, marking the return of Shafali Verma and Sneh Rana to the T20I set-up for the first time since the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup. The 15-member T20I squad includes five uncapped players—Kranti Goud, Sayali Satghare, N Shree Charani, Shuchi Upadhyay, and Amanjot Kaur—reflecting a strong shift toward youth and domestic performers. Shafali's comeback comes on the back of a dominant domestic season, where she was the leading run-scorer in both the Senior Women’s One Day Trophy and the Challenger Trophy, and she continued her form in the WPL 2025 with 304 runs at a strike rate of 152.76. Rana’s inclusion comes after her impressive WPL performance for RCB and her match-winning all-round show in the ODI tri-series in Sri Lanka, where she was named Player of the Series. While Harleen Deol also returns to the T20I fold, some notable absentees include Raghvi Bist, Uma Chetry, and Minnu Mani, who were part of the last T20I squad against West Indies. In the ODI squad, the only change from the tri-series-winning side is the addition of Satghare, with Pratika Rawal retained as the designated opener alongside Smriti Mandhana. The ODI spin unit, led by Deepti and Rana, also includes Charani and Upadhyay, both of whom impressed in India’s recent domestic success. There is still no word on the fitness status of frontline pacers Renuka Singh, Pooja Vastrakar, and Titas Sadhu, who remain sidelined due to injuries. The tour, starting June 28, includes five T20Is and three ODIs, and will be India’s final 50-over assignment before hosting the Women’s World Cup later this year.
