Rovman Powell Sidelined from T20I Series Against Pakistan Due to Wrist Injury

West Indies power-hitter and former captain Rovman Powell has been ruled out of the remainder of the three‑match T20I series against Pakistan after suffering a wrist injury.

Powell, 32, injured his wrist while attempting a catch during the fourth T20I against Australia in St Kitts on July 26, 2025. He subsequently missed the fifth T20I of that series and did not feature in the first two games against Pakistan in Lauderhill, Florida, where the West Indies lost the opener by 14 runs.

Cricket West Indies confirmed that Powell will play no further part in the series, with the final two T20Is scheduled for August 2 and 4 at the Central Broward Regional Park. The board has also chosen not to name a replacement, leaving the middle order to manage without his explosive batting.

Powell’s participation in the upcoming ODI series, which begins August 8 in Tarouba, Trinidad & Tobago, is also in doubt. He last played an ODI for the West Indies in July 2023, which further reduces his immediate selection chances.

With Powell sidelined, Shai Hope will continue to lead the side. The team will rely on other key players, such as Jason Holder, who impressed in the second T20I with 4/19 and an unbeaten finish, to provide the firepower and stability needed to close out the series.
