RCB Official Nikhil Sosale Granted Interim Bail in Chinnaswamy Stampede Case

Nikhil Sosale, a senior Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) official arrested in connection with the tragic stampede that claimed 11 lives during the team’s IPL 2025 victory celebrations on June 4, has been granted interim bail by the Karnataka High Court. Sosale, along with two DNA Entertainment officials, was released under strict conditions, including surrendering their passports. His legal team argued that the arrests were politically motivated and made without sufficient investigation or evidence. The stampede occurred outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium after police had reportedly denied RCB permission to host a victory parade at the venue. The incident led to multiple parties being named in the FIR, including RCB, DNA Entertainment, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), whose secretary and treasurer both resigned, citing moral responsibility. RCB's parent company, Diageo, is expected to conduct an internal investigation, while the franchise itself has remained silent on social media and refrained from further public comment following an initial apology issued after the tragedy.
