Rain Ends Thriller as Jamaica Kingsmen Edge Trinbago Knight Riders by Seven Runs

Jamaica Kingsmen secured a dramatic seven-run victory over Trinbago Knight Riders under the DLS method after rain brought an early end to a closely fought CPL 2026 contest in Port of Spain.
Chasing 181 for victory, Kingsmen had reached 127 for 3 after 14.4 overs when heavy rain returned for the second time. With the players unable to resume, the DLS calculations handed Jamaica a narrow win and moved them up to second place in the points table.
Knight Riders had looked well placed after posting 180 for 6. Colin Munro, Sunil Narine and Nicholas Pooran all made half-centuries, with Narine smashing 53 from just 24 balls and Munro adding 44 from 29. Pooran remained unbeaten on 60 and provided the late impetus to take the total to a competitive 180.
Jamaica's bowlers fought back strongly in the middle overs. Vitel Lawes produced the defining spell in the 14th over, dismissing Munro with the first ball, Kieron Pollard with the second and Matthew Tromp with the final delivery to complete a remarkable three-wicket maiden. He finished with 3 for 29 and was named Player of the Match.
The Kingsmen chase began positively, reaching 54 for 1 at the end of the powerplay. Kirk McKenzie and Keacy Carty then tried to keep the chase on track, but Knight Riders tightened the pressure and removed McKenzie for 30 in the ninth over.
The first rain interruption lasted around an hour, although no overs were lost. When play resumed, Kingsmen still needed 107 runs from 68 balls. Carty and Saim Ayub gradually regained control of the chase before another sudden shower forced the players off.
This time, the rain proved decisive. With Kingsmen seven runs ahead of the DLS target when play was abandoned, they walked away with two valuable points.
The result lifts Jamaica Kingsmen to second place with four wins, while Trinbago Knight Riders remain fifth after managing only two victories from six matches.
