South Africa wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock is set to rejoin the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad in Bengaluru on Thursday, just two days before their crucial, must-win IPL 2025 fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). De Kock’s availability had been uncertain until late Tuesday, but he has since confirmed his participation for the final leg of the tournament, which is scheduled to run from May 17 to June 3, following a week-long suspension of the IPL due to escalating border tensions between India and Pakistan.
KKR have received a boost with the confirmation of availability from most of their overseas players, including Australian left-arm seamer Spencer Johnson, whose return had also been in doubt earlier. However, the franchise is still waiting for final confirmation from England allrounder Moeen Ali regarding his participation. In the meantime, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine, two of KKR’s most seasoned international campaigners, are set to arrive in Bengaluru by Wednesday afternoon, having stayed in Dubai during the suspension. Their planned return to the Caribbean was temporarily paused once signs of IPL resumption emerged.
KKR’s Indian players are expected to arrive in batches starting Wednesday evening, and the team is scheduled to conduct two training sessions at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday and Friday evenings. With a playoff spot hanging in the balance, KKR will be eager to regroup quickly and build momentum for the season’s decisive final stretch.
