PSL 2025 Postponed Indefinitely Due to Border Tensions Between Pakistan and India

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 has been postponed indefinitely due to the worsening situation at the Pakistan-India border. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made the decision following advice from Pakistan's Prime Minister, Shahbaz Sharif. The board emphasized its concern for the mental well-being of players and the sentiments of foreign participants, many of whom expressed a desire to return home due to the heightened tensions.

This decision came just a day after the PCB announced plans to relocate the remaining eight PSL games to the UAE, without specifying dates or venues, with hopes to resume within a week. However, the situation changed quickly, and teams began disbanding with immediate effect, with arrangements made for foreign players to return home.

The postponement follows the temporary suspension of the IPL, which was also impacted by the same geopolitical tensions. The PSL had earlier held an emergency meeting, where PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with foreign players, who largely supported the idea of moving the league to the UAE. However, with the current uncertainty, no specific dates for the continuation of the tournament have been announced.

The PCB expressed gratitude to all partners, franchises, players, and stakeholders for their efforts in ensuring the smooth operation of the tournament thus far, but decided to pause the competition out of respect for the situation.
